BACKGROUND

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Col Victor Andrew Sorie attended the Saint Teresa Primary School in ManoDasse from 1971 to 1977. He attended the Yengema Secondary School, Kono and attained the Ordinary Level Certificate in 1982. He is currently pursuing online course in Peace and Conflict Management. He was enlisted into the RSLAF as a soldier in December 1990 and after 2 years he went through the officer cadet training and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 10 October 1992 at the Armed Forces Training Centre, Benguema Military Barracks.

MILITARY TRAINING ATTENDED
He successfully did several career courses: 1) Junior Division Emergency Command and Staff Course at GAFCS in Ghana in 2000, 2) Special Combat Team Commanders’ Course at GAFCS and Jungle Warfare School in Ghana in 2003, 3) Staff Harmonisation Course at the Horton Academy in Sierra Leone in 2004. 4) Peace Support Operations Course at the Horton Academy in Sierra Leone in 2006, 5) Military Observer Course at Ecole de Maintien de la Paix, Bamako in Mali in 2007, 6) United Nations Logistics Course at Karen in Kenya in 2009, 7) Command and Staff Course at the Horton Academy in Sierra Leone in 2011, 8) Senior Command and Staff Course at Nanjing Army Command College in China in 2012/2013, and 9) Unit Commanders’ Course at the Horton Academy in Sierra Leone in 2017. Col Sorie has attended and participated in several seminars, workshops and conferences both at local and international levels.

AWARDS
Col Victor Andrew Sorie was awarded the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) and United Nations Multi dimensionnal Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) Medals in 2016 and 2020 respectively for contributing to global peace. Additionally, he was awarded the National Medal for Dedicated Service to Colours and the country during 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations in April 2011.

Col Sorie is married to Mrs. Edwina Mariama Sorie and blessed with two children (girl & boy)
