THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF DEFENCE,
BRIGADIER GENERAL (RTD) KELLIE CONTEH MAIDEN VISIT TO
NORTH AND WESTERN AREA UNITS UNDER COMMAND; 5-10 FEBRUARY 2020...

        
        
  • On Wednesday 5th February 2020, the Honourable Minister of Defence, Brigadier General (Rtd) Kellie H Conteh accompanied by key staff officers from the Ministry of Defence paid a maiden visit to West and Northern Province Units under Command.
    The main purpose of visit was to share and exchange views with the troops in order to enable him get a better understanding about their well - being and operational effectiveness.

            
            

  • All throughout the areas visited, the Minister reiterated the President’s Human Capital Development Drive that sheds light on education, agriculture and health.

            
            

  • The Honourable Minister further discussed with troops on how the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces will be able to support HE the President in achieving these goals. The troops welcomed the idea and expressed their concerns and support in achieving these goals. The Honourable Minister and team were warmly received in all Units visited by Quarter Guard Parades and his maiden visit ended successfully.

            
            

  • Areas visited on this first phase were; 15 Infantry Battalion in Lungi, 11 Infantry Battalion Headquarters and Forward Patrol Bases Yumkella & Kunkuna in Kambia, 4 Headquarters Brigade and 4 Infantry Battalion in Makeni, Teko Barracks, 12 Infantry Battalion Headquarters and Forward Patrol Base Ops Sinkunia in Kabala, Forward Patrol Base Sanya and finally 9 Infantry Battalion Headquarters & Forward Patrol Base Njagbemafeama in Kono.
