Assistance Chief of Defence Staff of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces
Brig Gen David Tamba Ocil Taluva was born on 27 Oct 1965 in Murray Town Barracks. His Father hailed from Sandaru, Penguia Chiefdom, Kailahun District. And his mother from kayan Saforokoh Limba Chiefdom Bombali District He had his early education at the services Secondary School, Juba and Freetown. In Jun Aug 07, was awarded a certificate in Management Studies during the period of his Senior Command and Staff College.
He was enlisted in the RSLAF in 1988 and later commissioned on 29 Oct 1991. As grew in the military ranks, he did several successful career courses: Apr-Jul 2004-Junior Staff course, Armed Forces Command and staff College, Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College. 2003, IHL/LOAC in Sierra Leone, 2005, Peace and conflict Studies in Sierra Leone. Aug 06-Sep 07, Senior Command and Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Nigeria 2007, Conflict and Crisis Management Course in Nigeria. Jan-Feb 2008, Senior Management Course on Integrated Peace Keeping Mission, Nova Scotia, Canada. In Sep 2012-Aug 2013, Brig Taluva is a Fellow of the National Defense College, a Master’s of Science Degree in strategic Studies at the University of Ibadan.
Brig Taluva has held several Command and Staff appointments including 1991, Intelligent Officer at 1Bde, 1993, Coy Comd in 3Bn 1995-96, LO LEOBATT 2 Liberia, 1996-98 SO2 Ops, ECOMOG HQ, Liberia 1998/9, Bn 2i/c , ECOMOG HQ, Liberia Feb-Oct 2001, 2i/c 3Bn. Nov 2001/2002, 2i/c 9Bn. 2002/4, COS/CIMIC Offr, HQ 5Bde. 2004/6 CO 9Bn. Aug 07- Oct 08 D Def Pers MOD, Oct 2008 – Jan 2009 Comdt. Armed Forces Training Centre, Feb 11- Sep 12 Comd Trg Gp, He is currently a fellow of National Defence College, Abuja, Nigeria, period during which he was promoted to Brig Gen.
Brig Gen Taluva has attended and participated in several seminars, workshops and conference both at Local and international levels.
Brig Gen Taluva is married to Mrs. Memuna Taluva and the relationship is blessed with beautiful children.
His hobbies include Reading, Jogging and discussing contemporary issues.
