MAJOR GENERAL CHRISTIAN FAHIM MARAH

BACKGROUND
Major General Christian Fahim Marah is the newly appointed Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Defence. He was born on 10th October, 1969 at Tinma Barracks in Freetown. General Christian Fahim Marah attended the Murray Town Army Municipal School Tinma Barracks, Freetown, Municipal Primary School Murray Town, Services Children Primary School in Lungi and the St Francis Secondary School in Makeni. He was commissioned into the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces in October 1991.

MILITARY APPOINTSMENTS HELD
In his 31 years of service, Major General Christian Fahim Marah has held various military appointments both within and outside Sierra Leone; he served as Chief Military Personnel and Administration Officer in the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and Chief of Operations at the United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). He has also been the Director of Military Operations at the Ministry of Defence, the Chief of Staff at Headquarters Joint Force Command. Chief of Staff Freetown Garrison, Chief of Staff 4 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer 11 Battalion, Commanding Officer 1 Battalion, Chief of Operations Headquarters Joint Force Command, Command 5 Infantry Brigade, Commander Peace Mission Training Center and Commander Training Group Command.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
General Christian F Marah holds a Masters in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.

MILITARY & CIVIL TRAINING ATTENDEDM
He has attended all his command and staff courses. Additionally, he has attended other courses and training throughout his distinguished military career. Such courses are: The Progressive Qualification Scheme, Staff Harmonization Course at Horton Academy and also completed his Defence Studies in Nigeria.

NATIONAL / INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
General C F Marah is a veteran of the Sierra Leone Civil War and a decorated military officer. He holds three Economic Community of West African State Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) medals, one UNAMID medal, one AMISOM medal and one Independence medal.

General Marah is blessed with a beautiful Kurnako African family.

He likes playing soccer, squash and loves listening to gospel music, traveling and fishing.
