CJF grants permission for the commencement of the RSLAF Show of Force exercise
On Saturday 18th February 2023, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) conducted a Show of Force as a means of demonstrating their state of readiness for the defence of the territorial integrity of the country.
The Show of Force like other Countries in the World has been practiced in Sierra Leone. It is an activity that was factored among the many activities that made up the Armed Forces Week Celebrations. The exercise started from the Brima Attouuga mini stadium, where troops formed up in the early hours of the day, marched passed through selected streets of the City of Freetown. The event aims at showcasing RSLAF’s readiness and continued determination to perform their constitutional roles especially their mission and military tasks. The Honorable Vice President took the salute on behalf of the His Excellency the President and C-in-C of the RSLAF Brigadier General (Rtd) Dr Julius Maada Bio at the county’s fore court of the Law Court Building as tradition demands.

This years’ Show of Force was designed to demonstrate the state of readiness of troops across the country, thereby increasing confidence in the minds of the people in the area of peace and security. It also allowed troops to perform several physical activities to reassure the public of their capability to defend the country. The exercise ended at the Youyi Building West of Freetown, where troops assembled for the CDS’s address. In addressing troops, the Commander Joint Major General D Alpha on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff- RSLAF Lieutenant General PK Lavahun commended them for a well conducted exercise that is physically demanding and gave them words of encouragement and hope to serve their beloved country.
